Project Description

This wood Framed residential house is located in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn. It is a Passive house Plus Enerphit project (net Zero) and includes a solar array on the roof. As such the very low amount of energy it consumes is balanced by an equal amount of electricity provided by the Photovoltaic array.
The renovation required a new Passive House enclosure comprising of new insulation, air tightness measures as well as PH windows.
The features of this house with its siding, wrap around porch and bay windows make it a very common housing typology of the US. This renovation shows that despite the inherent challenges of bay windows and porches that an effective exterior Insulation retrofit can be completed economically.
